Resting Is an Act of Trust

Resting in Him is an act of trust.

Put fresh eyes on this famous passage: “The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures.” (Psalm 23:1,2 NIV)

Did you notice that the Shepherd makes the sheep lie down? Have you ever tried to make sheep lie down? Well, I haven’t. But, I looked it up. Sheep are defenseless animals and they need to feel at peace and completely safe from predators before they can even think about resting in an open field.

That’s exactly what the Prince of Peace—Your Good Shepherd—offers you when you look to Him and trust Him. You can trust that He will watch over you. You can trust that He will protect you. You can trust that He knows when you need rest and will lead you to a safe place right next to Him.
