Worship Brings Rest
Not all rest comes from pouring into ourselves with self-care. Rest also comes from pouring out praise to the Lord. Lasting rest can be found when we daily—and constantly—pour out praise offerings to the Lord. Not because of what He can do for us but because of Who He is.
He is good.
He is in control.
He is merciful.
He is compassionate.
He is just.
He is forgiving.
He is kind.
He is patient.
He is LOVING.
His rest can be found in our praises to Him.
Worship Songs About Remembering the Lord
The Lord created our brains to process music from a place of emotional remembrance. Neurobiologists have learned that singing activates the parts of our brain associated with memory and emotion. It’s part of the reason why hearing a song from your teenage years makes you feel 16 again AND why you can still remember all of the words (even if you can’t remember why you walked into the kitchen).
If you need rest today (and I know you do), choose to take time to pour out praises to Him. Remember and thank Him for who He is. Here are the worship songs about REMEMBERING that are currently on heavy rotation on my playlist:
1. Remember by Bryan and Kate Torwalt
Favorite Lyric: Oh my soul. Remember who you’re talking to. The only one who death bows to. That’s the God who walks with you.
2. The Story I’ll Tell (feat. Naomi Raine) Maverick City Music
Favorite Lyric: Over the years I’ll look back on this moment and see Your hand on it and know You were here.
3. Another in the Fire by HillSong UNITED
Favorite Lyric: Should I ever need reminding of how I’ve been set free, there is a cross that bears the burden where another died for me.
4. Evidence by Josh Baldwin, featuring Dante Bowe
Favorite Lyric: Help me remember when I am weak that fear may come but fear will leave.
