Rest in the Shadows

Shadows usually imply lurking darkness. Danger and destruction await on the fringes of the light. But Psalm 91 offers a different take. The Scripture declares “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”

The only way to be in the shadow of the Lord is to be close to Him. Close enough where He casts a shadow over you. It’s not a place just to occasionally visit on a Sunday morning either. Nope. He wants us to live there. Be rooted there. Settle down.

But. Consider this.

Resting in His shadow isn’t a passive experience. It is one of movement. The Lord is always leading us to take a step in faith. When He moves, so does His shadow. When we follow Him closely, we can REST in Him wherever He leads. Rest in the truth that He is in control when the world seems out of control.

What is one thing you can do right now to take a step into the shadow of the Most High?
